People Watching is a depiction of awe - that complex emotion we experience when we encounter something big enough that our sense of self recedes.
Soaking up the cool shade on a balmy July day as I had feelings of sonder (The profound feeling of realizing that everyone, including strangers passing in the street, has a life as complex as one's own) created that sensation for me - I hope you feel it, too.
