Documentary, San Francisco (2022-2023)
These scenes depict past experiences that conjured a feeling of awe as I stood observing them.
I felt that I had encountered something big enough that my sense of self receded.
The paintings start with film-like photographs taken throughout my exploration of San Francisco and are then used as references for the paintings themselves.
The collection is a harmonious coalescence of history, nostalgia, and modern day life.
Safe Spaces (2023)
The Safe Spaces collection is a compilation of everyday environments — merging domestic scenes, objects, and architecture to create dreamlike spaces tinted with nostalgia.
I drew inspiration from vintage design and my own domestic space as representation of my personal tendencies to seek calm and quiet serenity in spaces like these.
Dayglow (2022)
The Dayglow collection invites the viewer to move into a space where the vibrant colors of the painting can influence their mood. I aim for the works in this collection to have a positive effect on the viewer - balanced shapes and vivid colors harmonize to create a lively and uplifting vibe.
Jazz music had a strong influence on the overall color palette as well as my experimentation with soft edges and curved shapes in the majority of the works. These applications create a zen-like feeling, much as jazz music did for me during the painting process.
If a mood were a painting.
